Cold Laser Therapy

Laser beamDrug-Free Pain Relief

L.A.S.E.R. (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation) is a type of intense radiation of the light spectrum. A laser is simply a beam of light in which high energies can be concentrated. Laser light has unique physical properties that make it a daunting alternative to standard pharmaceutical relief. These properties are coherence and monochromaticity; they are what makes laser light so effective.

This technology is used to increase the speed, quality and strength of tissue repair. It is designed to resolve inflammation and reduce pain. Cold laser is, most importantly, non-thermal and painless. It does not burn or cut.

Benefits of Cold Laser

  • Fosters tissue regeneration
  • Improves nerve function
  • Increases blood supply
  • Promotes wound healing
  • Provides a comfortable treatment experience
  • Relieves pain
  • Stimulates the immune system

The technological advantage of the cold laser is that it penetrates through the skin layers to reach the muscle tissues and fibres. During treatment, our practitioner will direct the laser over the source of the problem for up to 15 minutes.

The device will produce red light and will not touch your skin. Most patients will feel nothing during treatment; a few may feel a minor tingling sensation.

Once laser light penetrates through the skin and is absorbed by the cells, the mitochondria in the cells transform into biochemical energy. This energy helps to enhance healing and restore normal cell function.

By using different wavelengths of light, we can also help to reduce or eliminate pain. This phenomenon occurs through the interruption of brain communications that indicate that “movement hurts.”
